2023 Social programme highlights.

The members social programme for 2023 kicked off with a visit to Zero West watches stylish premises in Emsworth in March. Their latest watch, the LS-2 Landspeed, pays homage to the 1927 land speed record set by the iconic Sunbeam1000hp on Daytona beach.

Read more about The National Motor Museum’s Sunbeam 1000hp Restoration Campaign, launched on the anniversary of Major Henry Segrave’s Land Speed Record on March 29, to enable its colossal V12 aero engines to run again.

In April the members drove from far and wide to meet up for an impressive visit of the Lotus factory and heritage centre in Norfolk. It was excellent and the members could have been there for hours, listening to the amazing history of the 1950-80 car technology developments of the Chapman years.

Hot on it’s heels, the sunny – but not so warm – month of May, saw members spoilt for choice with a behind the scenes tour of an awesome private spread of motorbikes, and original and restored Jaguar E-Types. Henry devoted his day to the members and his enthusiasm for his business and collection was palpable. The highlight of the members programme so far!

On home ground, Beaulieu’s events programme is also underway and is well patronised by members coming through for Aston Martin, Italian and the ever popular Spring Autojumble. Sculpture at Beaulieu also returns this year, featuring the works from international and national sculptors from 17th June – 24th September. Read more about these upcoming events.

The museum now has quite an extensive events programme of its own. Motopia? Past future visions was launched at a private viewing on 19th May – running through until April 2024, and the first Classic Grille evening for the year saw an impressive number of bikes roll in to celebrate the famous Tourist Trophy races and open our Motorcycle Story gallery with its vintage collection of bikes and cultural icons.
